UK Native Acidic Soils – This mix is suitable for areas that have a low soil PH level or clay soils. This mix will flourish anywhere, but the wildflowers and grasses have been selected as they have a greater tolerance for acidic soils. With 17 wildflowers and 6 grass species this mix offers a variety of colours, height and layers to any area where planted. The flowers range from yellows through to blues and will flower May through to August the following year after they are established. However you can add some Poppies for a pop of colour in the first year. When sowing your seeds it is best to spread on to bare soil, do not add any soil improvements as this is not necessary for wildflowers. The sowing rates will depend on what mixture you are planting, 100% wildflower is sown at 2g/m2 and the 80:20 mix is spread at 4g/m2. These mixes can be added to existing grass land as long as there is no perennial rye grass present as this will over power any flowers. All wildflower mixes benefit the environment and the wider ecosystem. The grasses and flowers in this mix are beneficial to a vast variety of wildlife. Specifically they will attract Painted Lady and Peacock butterflies, bees, dance flies and the 22-spot ladybird. Just some of the species you can expect to see.
