If you fancy the idea of cutting down on lawn maintenance and turning your grass sward into an eco-friendly zone, while you up your BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) credits, then consider cultivating clover turf.
Jubilee Seeds & Turf is pleased and proud to present to the UK our healthy alternative to a traditional, thirsty and labour-intensive monoculture grass lawn – Clover rich eco turf.
This 50/50 mix of grass varieties and white clover is being welcomed with open arms by gardeners and grounds keepers across the country, and working its magic on country cottage plots to grand estates, terraced townhouses and family back yards.
It’s so easy – just clear and level the ground, roll out the lush, dense mat of Clover Rich Eco Turf you’ve ordered from us, and water it in well. No fertiliser required.
The reasons why Jubilee Seeds’ Clover Rich Eco Turf is causing a lawn revolution, and is regarded as a landmark lawn evolution, are many and varied, but they all make perfect sense:
There’s no doubt that replacing your traditional lawn with Eco Turf is a shrewd, prudent and wise move – it’s a win for the environment, and a win for garden maintenance.
White clover (Trifolium repens) – which constitutes half of the species in our Eco Turf – is a herbaceous creeping perennial native British plant that we have traditionally preferred to keep out of our neat grass lawns. In the face of the climate crisis and threat to our biodiversity, however, we’re taking a new look at clover.
It’s a “bee-happy” plant, enjoyed by grazing animals, it’s high protein leaves and round heads of flowers also edible by humans. It’s soft to walk on, but not strong enough to withstand heavy foot traffic, so not advised for a sports field or playground.
The clover in our turf is mixed with Perennial Rye Grass, Slender Creeping Red Fescue, Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass, Strong Creeping Red Fescue and Chewings fescue – all grass species which help the perennial clover reseed itself every few years without assistance. The clover, with its nitrogen fixing ability, keeps the grass component healthy, green and vigorous.
Using turf to establish your Clover Rich lawn is a quick, easy way to make the transition from a monoculture grass lawn to an eco-friendly alternative that will give you more time to enjoy your garden and bring it back to nature.
