If you’re considering a wildflower meadow you might think annual wildflowers are too short-lived to bother with. After all, annual wildflower seed germinates, grows and dies back to seed all in one growing season, and whether they regenerate the following year is not certain. You can help them bloom again the following year by cutting down the seed heads at the end of the season and making sure the seeds are separated and pressed into the ground – or else just scatter a new layer of seed when spring comes around.
The good thing about annual wildflowers is that they grow and flower prolifically very rapidly, are exceptionally diverse and pretty, and are truly beloved by pollinating insects.
Examples of annual wildflowers are corn cockles, corn flowers, corn marigolds, yellow rattle and field poppies. Here at Jubilee Seeds we can make up your own bespoke annual wildflower seed blend, and mix in some grass seed if you wish, or you can order particular varieties of wildflower seeds in any quantity you need.
