Also known as Centaurea Nigra, Lesser Knapweed can be easily mistaken for a thistle. With purple petals bunched on top of its stalk its easy to see why. Adding a pop of purple to your garden or a meadow.
Growing up to 1m in height Lesser Knapweed attracts plenty of wildlife therefore making it perfect to help the vital pollenators. Butterflies and bees in particular are attracted to this flower. Flowering throughout June to September.
Planted in the sun in well drained and fertile soils. Very easy to grow. Perfect for meadows, roadsides, borders, hedgerows and even cliff tops.
Sow in Autumn/ Spring.

Description

With fine purple petals growing up to 1m in height. Can be planted in meadows, pots, borders and verges, very easy to grow in most soil types with sun. Sow in Spring or Autumn for flowers the following year. A perennial plant. Flower from June through to September. Approximately 400 seeds in 1g. All wildflower mixes benefit the environment and the wider ecosystem. These flowers are beneficial to a vast variety of wildlife. Specifically they will attract a variety of bees and Small Copper, Red Admiral, Peacock and Gatekeeper butterflies, just some of the species you can expect to see. Also known as Centaurea Nigra.
