About Corn Cockle Seeds

Description

A little pink gem, the corn cockle (Agrostemma Githago) flower adds a colourful touch to garden borders, pots or meadows, and brings the butterflies fluttering. It first appeared in Britain during the iron age, but Corn Cockle is now all but extinct in the wild. It makes a lovely addition to a wildflower meadow mix. Corn Cockle seeds can be sown directly into well-drained soil in sunny spots during Autumn or Spring. Corn Cockle flowers from June through to August. The seeds are larger than most – around 60 seeds make up 1 gram in weight. The corn cockle plant grows up to a metre or more tall, and waves in the summer breezes.
